Our class was excited when a special package arrived from British Columbia! Our Art teacher moved to B.C. and remembered we were looking closely at leaves. She found special leaves, wrote a letter and mailed it to us. We were very excited! During Exploration time we studied our leaves on the light table with magnifying glasses!

Some of our friends painted the really large maple leaf! Other kids used chalk pastels and represented the leaves. Some children decided to do leaf rubbings. Our class noticed so many beautiful colours and discovered a lot of veins! We want to make a special package for Ms. Korlak and mail it to her as a thank-you! We have our pictures up on display in our classroom.

In Math this week we have been measuring our pumpkins. We were comparing Buttercup to our pumpkins. Most of our pumpkins weighed the same as 2 Buttercups!

                                Exploring With Stones!

Today we went outside and explored with stones. We used stones to make a picture! Can you see the dragon?

Buttercup Turns ONE!!!!

Buttercup turned 1 on October 14th! We each ate 1 carrot. Buttercup had 2 carrots. We had carrot cupcakes and sang "Happy Birthday" to her!
Buttercup was really excited! She started to popcorn! Buttercup started eating her food from the bowl.

                               Special Guest For Fire Safety!

Savannah's Dad came to our classroom to teach us about "Fire Safety". He shared his big air tank, mask, boots, gloves and very heavy helmet. He sounded like Darth Vader. We learned it is important to have a fire safety plan at home and to not be afraid of firefighters.

This Week at School

All the 1/2 Multi-Age children had a wonderful day on Monday creating a "Harvest Display" for our school. As a design project, children were in groups planning, designing and creating scarecrows and shelters. They decided to use at least 5 different materials and had to decide how their scarecrow would hold together. Our class designed 2 scarecrows and 2 shelters to the large display in front of our school. Please watch for the final photo of our finished display next week. Hopefully everything holds together after our snowfall on Friday!

Field Trip To: A-Maze- In- Corn!

Bale Jumping!!

We had a fantastic day at the corn maze! The day started walking through the maze looking for flags of the world. It was nice to have a fire after lunch and roast marshmallows! Each student picked their own pumpkin to take home and got a ride on the pumpkin train. There were so many interesting and unique gourds and pumpkins to admire. Our class was able to experience a sleigh ride and meet the 2 horses after it was over. Everyone enjoyed all the animals. We had so much fun on the pyramid of bales!! Awesome day outside!
